Ramdhura

Located just 7 kms from Delo, Ramdhura, a small village surrounded by pine forests and cinchona plantations, offers a spectacular view of several loops of the River Teesta from above and the snowy Mt Kanchenjunga at the backdrop. This makes Ramdhura a perfect destination for spending a lazy weekend in the Himalayas.

Ramdhura offers a few homestays along the way. The Khaling Homestay and the Bhutia Homestay are the two popular homestays. I will recommend the Bhutia Homestay because of its excellent location and hospitality. The homestay offers decent amenities and simple home cooked food. Are you looking for a long blissful weekend trip? Then mark this place on your map. The best way to come here is to take the Kanchankanya Express and get down at New Mal Junction. From Malbazar, it is just a 3 hours drive.

Attractions
Short hikes to British built Jalsa Bungalow of 1930 and hikes around the surrounding cinchona plantation to Cinchona Godown can be undertaken.
Day trips to the Delo Nature Park, Algara Bazar, Rikissum, and other places can be undertaken.
Ramitey Dara (which has the longest view of River Teesta), Damsang Fort, Valley of Silence are other nearby attractions.
Mahadev Dham temple and Hanuman Tok (viewpoint) are good places to visit.
In addition to all these Ramdhura is a birdwatchers paradise.

Time to visit
Ramdhura can be visited at any time of the year. Each season has its own ambiance. During the monsoon you can feel the clouds touching you and during winter the view of Mt. Kunchenjunga is in-explainable. Sunrise in winters creates panoramic view where snow capped Kanchenjungha sparkles under the golden rays. Visiting Ramdhura in summer becomes appeasing in its pleasantly cool weather, an escape from scorching heat of summer.
